Leadership Transition at Silver Fern Farms: Dan Boulton to Lead as New CEO

In a significant leadership transition, New Zealand’s Silver Fern Farms, a key player in protein production and red meat exportation, has appointed Dan Boulton as its new chief executive, effective February. Boulton, who has been pivotal in the company’s supply chain operations for six years, is recognised for his expertise in various sectors, including seafood, horticulture, and forestry.

Boulton is set to succeed Simon Limmer, who has led Silver Fern Farms for five years, notably steering the company towards pioneering sustainability initiatives across its cooperative farms and processing plants. Limmer will be joining the Indevin Group, a renowned wine producer and exporter.

A landmark achievement during Limmer’s tenure was the 2022 introduction of the Net Carbon Zero by Nature Angus beef range in the U.S. market, aligning with the rising consumer demand for sustainable food products. Silver Fern Farms, with a presence in over 1,600 U.S. stores, reported its latest annual revenue at NZ$2.7 billion (US$1.7 billion).
