In a significant increase from the previous week, the total number of cattle at the Dalby Saleyard soared to 7,653, marking an addition of 3,650 head. This notable surge in numbers included cattle sourced extensively, with 95 from Victoria, 619 from New South Wales, and 326 from far Western Queensland. Despite this influx, buyer attendance dipped slightly compared to the previous week, with a few regular buyers absent. Nonetheless, a strong presence of restocker buyers was noted.

The increase in cattle numbers led to fluctuations in average prices across various categories. Yearling steers intended for feeding experienced a decrease in price, averaging 3c to 8c/kg less than the previous week. Yearling heifers, which had shown improved price levels in the prior week, could not sustain these gains. Meanwhile, bullocks destined for export processors averaged a 6c/kg drop in price. The market for cows remained relatively stable with only minor price variations observed.

In detail, lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock achieved prices up to 404c, averaging at 359c/kg. Domestic market-oriented yearling steers for feeding ranged from 337c to 350c/kg, with top sales reaching 374c and some purchased by restockers at up to 380c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers for feeding peaked at 341c, averaging 315c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers for restockers sold for as much as 318c, with most trading between 275c and 286c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers for feeding averaged between 271c and 274c, selling up to 302c/kg. Heavier yearling heifers for feeding reached 290c, averaging 262c, with processor lines fetching mid to high 270c/kg.

Bullocks peaked at 290c, averaging 284c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 171c and sold up to 180c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 195c, with the best among them reaching 230c and averaging 219c/kg. Heavy weight bulls topped the scale at 269c/kg.
